Ceramic Flutes

I began making ceramic flutes in 2018. I had begun my first and current profession as a k-12 Art teacher, and of the many things I have always wanted to try, this was the one I was most excited about. Since embarking on this journey I have made many different flutes and whistles. My favorite to date being the colossal squid, and La Chasse-Galerie.

La Chasse-Galerie

Inspired by an Acadian Folk Lore about a bewitched birchwood canoe deep in the forests of Quebec, or New Brunswick, or Northern Maine… Well it depends on who is telling it.

It is meant to resemble a relic, an artifact that could be found buried in the Northern woods, a legend used to summon a canoe for the price of a soul.

The Colossal Squid

Making the flute is easy enough, but it brings me so much joy to add all of the intricate details of barnacles, suckers, and tentacles.

I am not a talented musician!

But I wanted to prove that it does play!

Play your heart out

Again, I really just wanted to show off the beautiful clear sound of this flute.
