Stained Glass Mosaics
I had the opportunity to take part in a glass on glass work shop this spring, and I fell in love with the medium. I documented my lengthly progress, and enjoyed every minute of it.
Moth and Caterpillar Lantern
This project was my very first time working with glass on glass. I found myself digging through shards of glass, looking for the perfect pieces to fit in tiny place that only I would notice. When I look at these pieces, I can see all of my errors, places where the grout didn’t quite do what I wanted it to, I wish I had added a piece here or not put a piece there, but when the sun hits them just right I catch my breath and am grateful for learning this process.
The raven or the crow? only it really knows.
This work has over 100 hours into it. I spent a good deal of time contemplating colors in glass. The bird is not black, but deep shades of purple and blue. I loved making the sky behind him, a moon, fading into darkness. Again I reflect on the places I would change if I could. It sits perched in a window, waiting for the sun.
